
ADVANCED PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Course Updated to PMBOK Guide – Fourth Edition
A comprehensive project management course that covers the Project
Management Nine Knowledge Areas in depth and provides additional information on
Professional & Social Responsibility, the Project Management Framework and
the five Project Management Process Groups. A must for those who have mastered
the Fundamentals of Project Management or are preparing to take the Project
Management Professionals (PMP) Certification Exam!
Advanced Project Management Day 1:
Framework, Process Groups, Professional & Social
Responsibility, Project Integration Management
The first in a series of 3 classes. Discover the importance of the
project management framework and the basis upon which this course is founded –
the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Discuss the project life
cycle and why project stakeholders are critical to any project’s success.
Review the five project management process groups and the associated project
management processes.
Focus on the domain of Professional & Social Responsibility
and the importance of a project manager’s overall conduct in terms of ethics,
integrity, and professionalism. Develop an understanding of overall project
management success and the role of the nine knowledge areas throughout the
project management process.
Understand integration and its importance in working across the
organization to be successful.
No Prerequisite; although it is strongly recommended that students
take the Project Management Fundamentals Course first and enroll in all three
classes for Advanced Project Management.
Advanced Project Management Day 2:
Project Scope Management, Project Time Management, Project Cost
Management, Project Quality Management
Second in a series of 3 classes. This module focuses on the
processes required to: 1) ensure that the project includes all of the work
required, and only the work required, to complete the project successfully, 2)
ensure timely project completion, 3) ensure the project is completed within
the approved budget, and 4) ensure that the project will satisfy the needs for
which it was undertaken.
Advanced Project Management Day 3:
Project Human Resource Management, Project Communications
Management, Project Risk Management, Project Procurement Management
Third in a series of 3 classes. This module spells out the
processes required to: 1) make the most effective use of the people involved
with the project, 2) ensure proper collection and dissemination of project
information, 3) identify, analyze, and respond to project risk, 4) acquire
goods and services from outside the performing organization.
